Beckett can be (is) an a**hole, but there’s no denying what he’s done and apparently still can do. The way he shoved the bat up the Yankee’s a** in 2003 is still one of the best pitching performances you’ll see.

Good explanation of the absolutely bizarre MLB blackout rules:

...”Can anyone think of a good or service other than MLB, where customers chase a vendor around with $, yet the vendor goes to such great lengths to restrict the distribution of its own product?”...

Who owns TWC? Ted Turner? He’s a jerk for this.
Even if he doesn’t own it he’s still a jerk.

Although I still call myself a Dodger fan, I don't follow the sport anymore, and only know of Puig because he fled Cuba. The main reason I stopped watching was because of interleague play, the baseball equivalent of shacking up. When it was announced I stopped watching. But, the Dodgers made the playoffs, so I decided to watch the opener anyway. I was in Connecticut, and unlike the days when there were only two playoffs teams per league and everyone watched everyone, MLB decided to regionalize. The Dodger game would not be shown on local cable.

Fine, I invite Blackelk over to Bobby Valentine's over in West Haven. They've got the most c-band satellite dishes this side of Bristol in the whole state. We went. There were Red Sox, and Red Sox, and Braves/Rockies(?), and hockey and soccer or something, and more Red Sox. Hey, Mr. "I have 30 screens and a large patch of c-band satellite dishes", where are the Dodgers? He told me that MLB managed to blackout the satellite dishes, too! If I want to be a baseball fan and watch my team in the playoffs, it has to be Red Sox or Yankees or Mets. Well, my older brother was a Dodgers fan, my dad was a New York baseball Giants fan, and I have nothing but contempt for the Yankees and condescending pity for the Red Sox.

That cemented it. Since 1995 I have been to two baseball games in person, mainly to check out the new Comiskey and the ruined Wrigley, and have watched no games on TV. Good job Selig.

I used to work with Josh Beckett’s dad years ago. That kid could throw the baseball very well back then. His dad invited me to a couple of HS games, but I always had conflicts.
