You are correct. I have never heard anything approaching the sheer musicality and arrangements of the Beatles.

I was a huge fan of Yes. Went to several of their concerts, which also featured the most astounding stage sets by Roger Dean. He was so far ahead of his time, using projected images behind the band on the wings of a giant moth, things like that -- surreal landscapes that looked in the clouds and underwater at the same time. It was a very creative time in the early 70s. Never been anything like it since.
