Gotta read this to the very END!
That was some rant.
I have a love/hate relationship with Microsoft. They are not irrelevant and wont be for some time.
Honest disclosure, I am writing this from my Windows phone with the developer pre release 8.1 for phone. It is wonderful!
The version naming is going to confuse people.
I doubt Microsoft will run out of steam, that would be dangerous to computing because it would cause many people to,stop buying computers. I would never buy an Apple computer and I have very little interest in tinkering with Linux or Chrome.
‘The company sucked the life and innovation out of the industry for so long that eventually no one innovated because it was pointless,...’
Not exactly correct. All those ‘barely functional’ features (including Windows itself) lead to a vibrant industry whose sole purpose was security, detecting and neutralizing viruses and malware and detecting/documenting effects of Windows backdoors (intentional or not). As an engineering effort Windows is more or less a failure (mostly more). Its certainly a textbook on what lack of engineering discipline and acumen breed.
I remember when it first came out. It was free. That was a million upgrades ago.
I wonder if he wrote that on a windows machine - and how many are reading it on windows machines. “ semiaccurate.com” seems to be an appropriate url for that article.
“Microsoft is now irrelevant to computing, and they want you to know it”
Just like the Tea Party. /s
Another day, another Linux or Apple nutbag blowing a gasket about MS.
Microsoft: Going out of business since 1990
“Microsoft released a patch, they erased that line in the sand and drew another one immediately after the patch was released.”
Cool, let’s call it obozoSoft.
I predicted this many moons ago. Not because I have a hard on for Microsoft, hell I bless what I have been able to accomplish via their software, but because of their my way or the highwAY position and the historical nature of same.
The new ceo has no intention of changing windows 8
Expect 9 to be even more sucky and costly.
What would you except from a bunch of liberals? Hypocrites.
He didn’t mention Zune! ;-)
Good riddance.
I make a living off integrating Microsoft solutions (servers, cloud, etc). So not sure they’re irrelevant. But they did have a monopoly on things for too long and it hurt innovation.
MSFT is not my specialty as an investor. I am a biotech investor with macro interests outside BT.
That said, if MSFT is crumbling, this is good for QQQ.
But the question arises, is MSFT crumbling or simply shifting paradigms?
Satya Nadella is moving MSFT from one era to the next (Ballmer was a temporary overseer who brought nothing earthshaking).
Whatever MSFT was in the past is gone...it's over.
MSFT is now in a new period, with new management and new vision.
Investors must not live in the past.
Keep an eye on Nadella...he is going to reinvent MSFT.
Must be true if a blog says so. Meanwhile their stock still pays nicely.
