In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “Word for the Day”.

Lugubrious

Adjective

    Mournful, dismal, or gloomy, especially to an exaggerated or ludicrous degree.

lugubriously - adv.; lugubriousness - n.


Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

The fawns start arriving here about the last week in April-by Memorial Day, they are pretty much all down and following the doe around.

There were a couple of does browsing close to the yard again last night, but not as near the deck, so maybe Husky girl, with her barking and avid interest in chasing them gave them something to talk about...

The watch-donkey up the road lets everyone know when deer are coming up from the river-starts braying and running around the goats in the pasture she shares with them the minute a deer or anything else is seen.

They are pretty-looking animals, but only her owner can get near her without getting trampled and kicked to death-they are used for livestock guards-along with those equally mean llamas-a lot out here...
