"If the script writers take the time to write a character/actor-driven script with a great plot it could be good. But so many movies are driven by action and cgi that they forget about the three basics of any play or movie - plot, script, and acting. If you don’t have those, forget about it."

And it's ironic that almost 35 years later the non-cgi special effects of BR hold up remarkably well. If the flick was released today I don't think anyone would complain about the quality of the special effects. You don't need that stuff to make a great movie.

I have been hooked on Korean dramas lately. Some of them have special effects but its usually very short sequences because it’s expensive I guess. These shows are produced fast and cheap, many of them making 2 episodes per week.

Could you imagine the pampered princes and princesses of Hollyweird working that hard? They don’t make nearly the money that US actors make either.
