A cat came to her best friend's rescue Tuesday when the young boy was attacked in his driveway in Southwest Bakersfield.
The surveillance video shows the boy playing on his bicycle when a dog sneaks up behind him and grabs his leg.
The family's cat, named Tara, rushes the attacking dog and chased it away.
The boy's mother, Eric Triantafilo, told 23ABC the boy needed a few stitches, but he is doing fine this morning.

Not a bad idea...there are a few feline Mayors out there, IIRC.
Perhaps the cat should be renamed ‘Streaky’...(comic fans will get it)
That’s true.
I wish a feline could replace my governor, Terry McAuliffe.
Any cat could do a better job than that corrupt idiot...the GOPe got him elected.
Thanks for the link...shows the child’s wounds and it also shows Mom running away after child was attacked...did she think the big bad dog was returning?
What a good little puss! Extra tuna for kitty!
That is one tough and protective kitty. Kudos kitty cat.
Yes, they did. I can’t even listen to his voice when he turns up on the local news.
Patrick Henry, Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe...and now Terry McAuliffe. I can still barely believe it.
The cat recognized the extreme aggression of that bad dog and reacted. I have a sweet little girl kitty. Before I brought her in for good, some male cat tried to get her. Wow, she turned into a ferocious little being. That bad kitty took off like a bat outta hell after my kitty went after it. LOL
That leap and use of the back leg force was awesome!
Good cat!
True. But I'd venture to say that the dog's owner is the main problem. Domestic dogs generally don't act that aggressively without training and encouragement in that direction by humans.
The little boy's legs were seriously bitten. And if it weren't for the courageous cat, he could have even been killed.
The mother should not have then left the injured child unattended, AGAIN! Come on lady!
Another “not a Pit Bull” coming in 3...2...1...
I’m a little puzzled as to why the mother led the way, presumably into the house, expecting the injured boy to follow her. The boy was still on the ground and wrapped up in his bicycle. Why did she leave his side at all?
> I didnt know that cats do this kind of thing.
Do not underestimate cats.
Some 25+ years ago, by mom’s 7 pound Siamese was on her porch. A large doberman pinscher (not on a leash) came up on the porch, cornered the cat, and the cat had to defend its life, so it killed the dog.
As should some feral humans, for the same reason.
“I didnt know that cats do this kind of thing.”
My brother had two cats years ago and one of them got into a tangle with a Doberman that soon got the cat into its jaws.
The other cat, a big Tom leapt onto and dug its claws into the dobies back and sunk its teeth into its neck.
The other cat was promptly dropped as the dobie ran off howling.
The Dobie owner wanted my brother to pay the vet bill for stitches. Brother told him no in very descriptive and sailor-like words.
I’m not a big cat fan either, but I’ll give credit where it’s due. That’ll do cat, that’ll do.
Yes, the dog was returning. She went after it and she got bit, too.
The owner of the dog gave no argument to having the dog impounded.
