I remember an insurance ad in which a woman watched her cheating BF via a webcam and she created a scissors, through the computer, which cut his crotch. This was shown during a football game and I was watching with my nephew at the time. The ad campaign didn't last long and I suppose others were upset; there is another way to get the message across that is less vulgar for a primetime audience. I posted earlier that I avoid products based on the TV ads. Same here: I am not a big fan of the NFL but I do hope they lose viewers over this issue.

Not half as bad as a viagra commercial every 10 minutes.

The St. Louis Rams have painted themselves into a corner and the harm could spread to every other team they play.
Michael Sam is too small and too slow for the NFL. The Rams can't play him aggressively or risk him getting clobbered.
Other NFLers are either waiting for a chance at payback for politicizing the game or are worried if they hit him too hard, they could be accused of some anti-homo crime.
If St. Louis cuts him, they can expect White House scrutiny or worse.
Sam brings more issues and distractions than any player in recent history...
