Rowdy European soccer fans in a country where a lot of people carry machetes. What could possibly go wrong?
I’ll watch some matches, but turn the sound off, if they have hose godawful horns.
I don’t think they will. That’s an African thing.
Oh, and foe Europeans afraid to come to the US because of all the guns and killings: Brazil’s homicide rate is 21.8, versus 4.8 for the US, and 1.1 for France.
I’ve also watched the “Real Football Factories” videos on YouTube, it’s pretty eye-opening.
The experiences in that book are from the late ‘80s, that hooliganism is fairly rare now, it’s been rare since the Barclay’s Premier League started up cerca 1993.
And I’ve read that book, I don’t think he likes Britons and its written by an American.
How about a book that is written by an American in the 2000s and he decides to follow a club in England?

FIFA has no one but itself to blame. There were better options than Rio for the World Cup, there were better options than Russia for the 2018 World Cup, and there were, and are, much better options than Qatar for the 2022 World Cup.
FIFA cannot therefore complain if its showcase event is screwed up.
I hope Manager of the Year is Tony Pulis, great upset by Crystal Palace in front of 39,000 plus fans at Goodison Park.
Glad to see Julian Green make that list. The lack of European-based players on USMNT is always a problem, but right now it seems that big clubs don’t want our players.
He won. And rightly so.
In 2006, ESPN was hyping Kasey Keller as the best goalkeeper in the world when he was in fact the third-best goalkeeper in his qualifying group, which also included Gianluigi Buffon and Petr Cech. I don't believe a word they say.
Points are going to be hard to come by. Ghana has knocked the USMNT out of the last two World Cups, they won't beat Germany, and Portugal of course has Cristiano Ronaldo. Four points in the "Group of Death" would be quite good indeed.
Yep, Derby and QPR to play in the “Richest Game in Football.”
And we all know what the best option for the World Cup is.
The country that still holds the record for the most attended World Cup, ever.
The USA.
ARRRRGH! That most likely cost us a chance at the Champions League. Actually I think Poyet did a fantastic job saving Sunderland.
Yes, Ghana is our boogieman but at least in 2010, our team was drained because of the bad officiating in group play, we could not advance until our 3rd game, a win over Algeria and perhaps that was an emotional win not gotten until the closing of the game. I think that's how it happened. 2010 World Cup and then, we met Ghana in the 1st round.
Germany should not have lost to Croatia in the group stage of the 2008 Euro Cup but they did. So I hold out hope of getting a draw with one of either Portugal or Germany. Of course, the objective is to win all of the games, unlikely.
And we do owe Ghana, to beat them this time around. We get out of our group, we could possibly really do something.
Agreed. And as for Pulis, without him Crystal Palace finishes in League Two.
