Thanks, if you read the thread, you will see that that simple but profound post got many personal attacks against me, but not one mention of what it said and described so accuratly, and it was only one sentence long.
I'm not surprised about the personal attacks. I have two close friends who are libertarian and your original post sums up their end of our debates rather succinctly. Though they deny being libertines or anarchists, they passionately argue in favor of cultural liberalism and even some elements of anarcho-collectivism (that's a real head-scratcher there).
To be fair, "libertarianism" encompasses extremely divergent views. But, the points being argued by those I'm familiar with leave no doubt about their ideas of a utopian society. What my friends don't fully grasp is such a "utopian" condition makes us ripe pickings for the whims of tyrants both domestic or foreign. Our Founding Fathers knew of these dangers and their wisdom on this subject has been recorded for prosperity.
It seems we are destined to learn this all over again the hard way.
