Holy cow, never heard of this guy. Hank's grandson. Kind of refreshing to hear outlaw country again.
Hank’s Grandson?
Ho K.
Riffing Johnny Cash for your tune, writing twisted lyrics and the artwork is uhmmmmm????? can’t think what to call it.
“Yup.
Hank Sr. was the better poet of the three, - - - so far.”
Hillbilly Shakespeare.
Hank Williams was a great all time great singer and song writer. Amazing talent.
III is ok, he’s improved a lot with age. But he is not even close to his grandfather, nor is Hank Jr.
Very very few are Hank Wiiliams’ peers in music. He is that head and shoulders above most others.
Best song on the album IMO is Cecil Brown.
As for turning your back on Nashville, guys like Willie Nelson and Dwight Yoakam did it and had a lot of success. Nashville is a sewer as far as Country music goes. Nothing good comes out of there.
There are only two kinds of music: Country and Western.
Country and Western Music are the Folk Songs of America, - - - Red, White and Blue.
Few have matched words and song better than Hank Williams, Senior, IMHO, of course.
That gift was passed on to Hank Williams, Junior and now to Hank Williams, the third.
We are all better for them sharing their gifts with us, each with their own style.
Love that! What is it with country radio nowadays? Why won’t they play this stuff? If people like it, they should play it. Instead, if you want to listen, you have to put up with a huge crop of mediocrities, many of whom are almost indistinguishable to my ear. Can’t stand listening to them and hardly ever turn on the radio anymore.
Almost finished listening to it. Really like it. Agree about Cecil Brown. A close second for me is 5 Shots of Whiskey followed by Walkin’ with Sorrow.
One of the comments on YouTube was that you know when you’ve found a great musical artist when you have a hard time identifying your favorite song. Just about sums it up for me with regard to Hank III.
My brother-in-law says there are only two kinds of music he doesn’t like: Country and Western. Poor man, no wonder he’s so mixed up.
His wife must truly be a Saint!
Truer words have never been spoken. She’s no longer with us and he’s been on a downward spiral ever since.
Check out this guy. He’s got some pretty good stuff but tends to drift away from country. I really like this song though.
