By property I dont necessarily mean real estate. A healthy portfolio either defered retirement or not should be one form of required property. One advantage of requiring the voter to own real property (a home, a business, etc), is that he directly and immediately stands to lose if the people he votes for adversely affect the business climate or property values in his area.
