Word For The Day, Tuesday May 6, 2014
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
indefatigable [in-di-fat-i-guh-buhl]
-adj
incapable of being tired out; not yielding to fatigue; untiring.
[158090; < Latin indēfatīgābilis untiring, equivalent to in- in-3 + dēfatīgā ( re ) to tire out (see de-, fatigue) + -bilis -ble ]
sabroso, -sa [sah-BROH-soh, -sah]
-n
delicious, pleasant
Para él, toda la comida asiática es sabrosa.
For him, all of Asian cuisine is delicious.
I just read that on the back of a girl’s tee shirt on the trails this morning!
proposal planners would be a bit much.
Had several friends of mine, from out of state, get engaged last weekend. I guess it is that time of year.
when a young man’s fancy turns to luv.... ; )
we are on the cusp of having kids, friends of kids, kids of friends, nieces, nephews etc, all starting to marry. Other than my niece’s wedding 6 yrs ago, and xsboy’s friend last Sept, we have not been to weddings since our peers were getting married. it’s a different stage of life.
The gurus of climate change
And their acolytes hold fast
To the idea we can control it-
But they can’t explain the past
So indefatigable and clueless
They ignore natural events-
The sun, orbits, meteorites-
That makes too much sense
So they warn us us yet again
Freeze in the dark or be damned-
But they’ve overused that so
Almost no one is being scammed...
Los veganos no comen animales sabrosos
Preds get Laviolette as Head Coach.
Caps diddling around, will get left with dreck as far as available coaches if they continue to wait around.
Proposal planners now? Talk about a lack of spontaneity...
I cherish both proposals I accepted-the first was totally unplanned, but we were young-we’d been hunting on a relative’s ranch-got right into his truck and drove across to Ciudad Acuna to pick out rings...
MrT5 planned his proposal for candlelit dinner at a remote, romantic restaurant, but we’d been best friends for 7 years, and we weren’t young or innocent...
They’ve been dropping hints for 3 weeks that both parties were interested. I don’t see this as an improvement.
I wish your team had picked him up first. We don’t have the forwards and the offensive firepower with which he works best. We’re not thrilled.
yes, i didn’t think you would be, i don’t see him as a good fit. Caps might have been better. but i want bylsma.
Caps fans are TERRIFIED it will be Torts, LOL!! i heard Leonsis on a radio show last friday and he was asked if it was true that Gretsky was interested in GM and he declined to answer and he was asked if he could rule out Torts and he wouldn’t do that either! i don’t think it means anything, i do think that he was just not commenting on principle, not because he is in serious talks with them.

Laviolette, Preds get Laviolette,
Laviolette — Caps’ll wait today.

Thanks for the notice Laviolette seems to be effective wherever he goes, but I never cared for him, particularly when he was with the Flyers.
Trotz was certainly a fixture in Nashville, IIRC he was the longest-tenured coach just about anywhere, even Ruff. I suppose he’s an option for Washington, but you know that toxic environment better than I would. :-)
it’s gonna be tough for SG bc Barry has been there for as long as you have followed hockey, right SG? anyone is going to be an adjustment, but i do think Lavy is not warm and fuzzy—xshub spoke to him while he was still coach of the flyers and getting coffee at the Ritz Carlton [xshub had a breakfast meeting there and recognized him] and he got some guttaral response ; )
and yes, i think Barry Trotz is too nice for DC. and our team needs someone who will beat the living $h!t out of them, and i don’t see that as barry’s style either.
So you’re saying you want Torts??? I learned about hockey because of Trotz, the way he introduced the whole franchise to Nashville, how personable he is, all the behind the scenes volunteer stuff he did. But I learned with my town and no one ever thought of Trotzy as particularly warm and fuzzy but he was a players coach. He was excellent at managing people on ice and off. They knew they could go to him about anything, he would ask about their families, I don’t see new guy doing that. Someone tweeted that Weber was going to play for Lavy one way or another eventually and here we are.
And you think that’s Bylsma’s style?
So Washington, Carolina, and Vancouver are still looking for coaches. I predict another team may liberate their coach before the play-offs are over.
I’m not up on the Minor leagues, maybe it’s time to get away from the revolving door and give strong consideration to some promising up-and-comers from the farm systems.
(I would say though that if the name “Ron Rolston” comes up, run away a cardboard cut-out of any current coach would be better than this guy ;)
Agreed.
We had our turn with the coach of the London Nights....
