Thank you so much. I had bought some starter once and it said to replenish the starter to keep it going or something like that but I didn’t understand.

Thank you. I consume flax seed and I am a woman, is that bad?

And with that question you open the door to the unknown. Even the big names in research are pretty clueless.

http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/ingredientmono-991-FLAXSEED.aspx?activeIngredientId=991&activeIngredientName=FLAXSEED

The bottom line is that as of now, there are no major red flags. So unless your doctor says otherwise, you can likely continue using it without worry.

Thanks much PA. Last check, mine was 549. I’m going to get serious about lowering my triglycerides, and any suggestions are much appreciated.

“Lipitor is a statin that my cardiologist prescribed. I took it for about a year before I started having leg cramps, feeling tired, panic attacks, and foggy headed. I did a little research on Lipitor and found many people had the same symptoms. Stopped taking it, and after two weeks, I felt like a new person.”

Personally, I think statins are a REALLY bad idea. First, a side-effect of statins is to inhibit the liver enzyme that is responsible for the synthesis of CoQ-10, and ironically, the heart needs CoQ-10 more than any other organ, so statins potentially are damaging to the heart in my opinion.

Second, cholesterol is ESSENTIAL for bodily function. First, it’s the starting material for the synthesis of almost every hormone in the body, and second, cholesterol is absolutely essential for proper functioning of cell membranes. The brain is also a HEAVY user of cholesterol, which is why people get brain-fogged from statins. Bottom line, we would quickly die without cholesterol, and aggressively removing the ability of the body to manufacture this essential material is completely insane.

BTW, I quickly got ALL of the same symptoms you did with statins decades ago and quit pronto. My sister had the same problem.

My VA doctor wanted me on statins for cholesterol. I said I wanted to try diet and exercise first. She said we'd try but at the end of three months I would go on the meds. At the next visit she said she'd never said this before but congratulations.

Whole grains were around long before processed foods.

That doesn't make them good for you. We're not evolved to eat grasses or seeds. I never believed this stuff till I did give them up.

The difference in my health is amazing. I wouldn't touch grains or starches again. Now, understand, please, that I'm not advocating government intervention here.

Eat what you want. But there is something to the wheat-free diets.

(more information)

Statin drugs block the body’s production of cholesterol by inhibiting the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase. By inhibiting this enzyme, your body’s production of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is also blocked.

CoQ10 is the key to energy production in every cell in your body. Your heart uses more energy than any other organ, and has a higher concentration of CoQ10. Statin drugs block this enzyme. If you are taking statin drugs and have a concern, please consult your doctor about adding a CoQ10 supplement.

(Ubiquinol is the antioxidant form of CoQ10 which neutralizes free radical damage. Ubiquinol is six to eight times more effective compared to ubiquinone (CoQ10) in people over 50 years of age.)

Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is a nucleoside triphosphate used in cells as a coenzyme. It is often called the “molecular unit of currency” of intracellular energy transfer. ATP transports chemical energy within cells for metabolism. CoQ10 is required for ATP production.

In 1990, patents were applied for by a major drug company to incorporate CoQ10 in their statin drug, but there is not yet any drugs on the market that include it.

Dolichols

Dolichols target proteins based on DNA instruction. Blocking dolichols can lead to your cells responding chaotically because of dolichol deficiency. Dolichol acts on a molecular (DNA) level to ensure that the cells in our bodies ‘work’ as they are supposed to. So a dolichol deficiency can cause havoc in virtually any area of our body, and because it is done on a cellular level it is extremely difficult to pinpoint where, what and how the problem is happening.

There is no supplement for dolichol.

Side effects involving emotion and behavior may result from statin-induced dolichol deficiency. Dolichols are inevitably inhibited with statin use, leading to deficient glycoprotein synthesis. Our neurohormones are derived from this huge glycoprotein class of biochemicals. Dolichol is critical for not just neurohormone production, but also for cell communication and identification and DNA error correction.

Decreased levels of dolichols are registered with acute rheumatism and other immunodeficient conditions.

Squalene (not related to squalane or squamous cell carcinoma.)

The immediate precursor of cholesterol is squalene. Researchers have found that squalene inhibits blood vessels formation in tumors. Squalene is a natural 30-carbon organic compound originally obtained for commercial purposes primarily from shark liver oil (hence its name), although plant sources (primarily vegetable oils) are now used as well, including amaranth seed, rice bran, wheat germ, and olives. All plants and animals produce squalene as a biochemical intermediate, including humans.

Squalene is a natural and vital part of the synthesis of all plant and animal sterols, including cholesterol, steroid hormones, and vitamin D in the human body. Squalene has been proposed to be an important part of the Mediterranean diet as it may be a chemopreventive substance that protects people from cancer. Alkoxyglycerols like squalene help to significantly support the production of white corpuscles in our bodies which are necessary for optimal immune system function. It is most commonly available in olive oil.

Others

Other nutrients believed to be negatively impacted by statins include carnitine, omega-3s, vitamin E, selenium, creatine and vitamin D.

Reducing LDL (bad) cholesterol below a certain level in the blood can interfere with downstream processes involving sex hormones, cortisol, aldosterone, DHEA and vitamin D.

“Even President Dwight D. Eisenhower suffered a heart attack in 1955”

Which is relevant to nothing. Eisenhower smoked 3 packs of cigarettes a day all the way through World War II when he was the supreme allied commander. It’s not difficult to see that three packs of cigarettes a day are bad for your heart.

Never take statin drugs...protect your bones.

The Bible says “Honor thy father and mother that thy days may be long upon the earth” KJV

Nowhere does it say ‘watch your cholesterol’ to live long...Now, we should watch our diets and be reasonable. All things in moderation, basically.

You made a wise choice.
