Right now, it's soaker hoses on a manifold with individual valves. I manage it by being out there and turning them on and off. I have more time than money.

For everything that's not in the big garden, I hand water. 5 gallon bucket of rain water and an old tin can to scoop it out. Really high tech.

I don't leave when my garden is in season. ;)

I haven’t had a ‘food’ garden since my knee operation, but I hope to put in some tomatoes when it gets warmer. I can handle the watering in the ‘food’ garden with a timer on a sprinkler. But, flower pots on the front porch are always a problem. The house is red brick, as are the pavers on the porch. The house faces directly South and is just a magnet for the sun. I can kill a beautiful urn of flowers in one afternoon when it turns hot, even if I’ve watered it in the morning.
