I picked the 4th and 29th as examples because their first combat was D-Day. The 1st (D-Day) and the 3rd (Southern France) go back to the Med. Those divisions had similar or greater losses, but over a longer period of campaigning. Those losses over just 11 months are appalling, so I picked them for special mention.
