I know I'm not the only person who has met a child who earnestly thought they should be the other sex in childhood, and as soon as the puberty hormones hit, their sex organs popped and they magically became attracted to the opposite sex.
I've also known adults in gay or lesbian relationships who one day met someone of the opposite sex, fell in love, got married and had children and left all that other stuff behind. Ran into one of them whom I hadn't seen in a dozen years at my child's elementary school, and (he/she) took me aside and begged me not to tell anyone about the former life for the sake of (his/her) child at the school. Luckily for (him/her), I try to avoid gossip.
The parents of that poor child in the article are both crazy and evil.

Not all the time, but very often, children will say what they think we want to hear. They should wait till this child is older. All of us have to learn a certain degree of self-acceptance, otherwise, one never learns the feeling of contentment, however fleeting that may be. You end up like Michael Jackson or some Movie star who cannot stop surgeries to alter their appearance. I read about some woman whose ‘goal’ is to have the largest breasts in the world, just for the fame and lucrative reputation. Never mind the health risks, never mind that she neglects and embarrasses her teenage children. Her focus is soley on herself.
