Nobody knows till the time comes but you can help desensitize yourself with drill and hunting is always a good way to tell if you can shoot to kill. I think rabbit, squirrel or small game...then build up to deer and hogs.

You might think that'll help, but killing game ain't nothing like looking a man in the eye as you squeeze the trigger to kill him. It ain't the same, and never will be.

I know, you are correct. An animal is nothing like a man. It shouldn’t be unless you’re a sociopath. My thinking is just muscle memory of aiming at center of mass and trying not to jerk rounds all over the place.

Using a timer or the rapidity of movement helps but you are correct that nothing simulates real combat.
