We know Coca-Cola and Pepsi are profitable soft-drink giants, but one of these two companies is significantly better than the other at keeping customers loyal and engaged with the brand.
Although the soda industry is made up of dozens upon dozens of beverages choices, chances are good that the soda you last consumed was made by either Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO) or PepsiCo (NYSE: PEP), which absolutely dominate the industry.

You’re right! It’s the one that has 130 years worth of nostalgia and mines it constantly. “coca cola” is the second most understood word around the world after “OK”. You wanna see how much CocaCola truly controls? Go to wikipedia and type in “list of CocaCola brands”. the list is international and staggering.

I used to prefer Pepsi to Coke, but when I found out about Pepsi’s ties to the abortion industry, I dropped the brand completely and will not purchase or associate with it.
That’s somewhat of a moot point these days as I very seldom drink any soft drinks anymore and when I do it’s more likely to be an unsweetened tea.
I hate when websites pull those kinds of tricks. That's just the kind of website I won't join. I'm mildly curious to know the answer, but not enough to register at their site. And I'm not sure I would believe what they have to say anyway, if they're the kind of people who stoop to deceptive practices to get me to read their site in the first place.
I don’t drink any soda. Can’t understand what the draw is. Drinking 3 glasses of wine a day is better for you than 3 cokes.
My ex wife, back in Tennessee, drank only Coke when she was not drinking a six pack of Busch per day. She wore a hat that said “Pepsi YUCK”.
I would take Coke over Pepsi, but I do not drink either one, even though I sell 1 ltr. bottles of Coke and Sprite.
“Drinking 3 glasses of wine a day is better for you than 3 cokes.”

Of course, but you need more then 3 glasses. I drink at least one ltr of red wine per day :)
When I clicked the second link in the article excerpt (the one that says “fool.com”), I was able to read the whole article. I have never registered at the Motley Fool website.
Good grief! Half a glass and I feel dizzy. Love the taste but I can’t do it.
I am not a soda drinker—trying to drink anything carbonated feels like trying to drink ground glass—but I would have guessed that Coca Cola has the top brand loyalty.
If I must drink a carbonated beverage, and the choice is Pepsi or Coke, I will choose the Coke. I make it flat before drinking it.

Wow, that is strange. How do you react to beer or hard liquor.
Maybe I am permanently drunk and do not notice it, haha.
I can’t finish a beer, get about halfway and it stops tasting good.
I went home on leave from the Navy one year. I was waiting for the ferry to Bremerton. I was old enough now, so I went to the bar and ordered a Wild Turkey (had seen it in Playboy).
One sip and I was turned off of hard stuff. I politely tried to finish it over the next half hour.
'You'll have to answer to the Coca-Cola Company.'
“One sip and I was turned off of hard stuff.”

That is a bit strange. Your system obviously is allergic to anything with alcohol.
Back in the US, I use to say that my drinking consisted of Scotch in winter and beer in Summer. I did, however, become addicted to Carlo Rossie California red wine that I bought in 4 ltr btls.
When I moved from the US for good in 2004 to Slovakia, I was pretty much a wino, and I could buy red or white wines from the barrel, pumped into 1.5 ltr plastic bottles.
Here in the Philippines, they are not so much into wine, but I can still buy Carlo Rossie and other import wines.
I am now on to drinking a local Sangria, costing about $3 per bottle. When I travel to one of the big cities, I can buy red or white imported wine in 1 ltr cardboard boxes...very easy to carry home.
“May I suggest one of these? “

Hahahahaha...That is the one that a local vendor is now stocking for me, but it is not quite that large :(
It is the same as in your photo, but says California Red.
Same with me.. I very rarely drink dofr-drinks anymore.. but am addicted to unsweetened tea (Japanese thing?).
It was Woodruff that declared that American service personnel during World War II should be able to get Coca-Cola cheaply, and as a result of a request from General Eisenhower in 1943, helped set up bottling plants behind the front lines of just about every place US soldiers were involved in the war. That's why Coca-Cola had bottling plants in northern Africa and western Europe by the end of World War II, which became the basis for the worldwide explosion of the drink's popularity after World War II.
