Apparently the “one sided picture” and an internal investigation was enough
to have this Deputy terminated immediately.
He was in the wrong type of work. He will now have the opportunity to
look for a job he is better at.
This young man is a college student, not a thug. Arrest him and those
who are disturbing the peace. But you don’t have to choke him to do it.

a job he is better at? Possibly “Inmate”.
But seriously...props to the Sheriff for his quick (and justified) action. I’ve noticed lately that Sheriffs are far more responsive to this type of incident than Chiefs of Police are. Maybe the position of Chief of Police should be subject to Recall (i.e., firing) votes.
LOL. Inmate.
He might pretty good in orange.
After reading the latest news story on Knoxnews, it said this deputy was
once a Sargent, but was a deputy at the time this student was choked.
Apparently he was demoted some point in time.
You might want to get post 52 pulled. That was not the officers name.
If if bothers you, you can report it.
How about this correction;
Regarding Post # 52
The arresting officers name was Brandon Gilliam
And the fired Deputy’s name is Frank Phillips.
Or you can report it the Administrator.
>> “ He will now have the opportunity to

You’re correct. It’s not what I’d think of as a choke hold. It’s strangulation using both hands.
It could have been because KNS updated and changed part of their report at about 9:50.
I live 60 miles away, and this is the first I’ve heard of it too.
