when i pulled up outside of St James this AM for 8:30 mass one of the nuns was walking a DOG outside of the convent! she looked like your Buffy, but with diff coloring. I said, oh what a sweetie, and she said oh yes, she is. I said too bad she can’t go into Mass, and she said, yeah, prob shouldn’t try that. i said they need to do a St Francis Mass where you can bring your dogs to Mass, and she said that their pup goes to the Mass in the Chapel with them in the convent! i thought that was very cute.
Well, he would have said it if he’d thought of it.

There was a JW-a guy-who came by about 7 years ago when MrT5 had just gotten home from work and was opening the gate on the driveway. MrT5 was very polite, accepted his literature, and told the guy thank you, but we are a Catholic family.
All these years, that guy was still coming by every couple of weeks-I’d find the literature taped to the gate when I got home from work. Now that I’m not there any more, I wonder if he left stuff on the gate of a place where no one lives...
i didn’t even bother going down the We are Catholic road, bc they expect people to have their own religion. She asked if i believed that God answers prayer, i said i KNOW he does. she read me a verse from John [doubt their Bible is the same as our’s]. they did not recoil when chan and jules met them on the stoop, so that’s a point in their favor.
Well, the JWs can’t leave stuff on the gate-I took down both the ranch gate and the yard gate, threw them into my compadre’s truck and they are stored here, waiting for their next place...
All of those I’ve met are very polite, but they seem like an apocalyptic cult to me...
We had them in our neighborhood recently - as mean as it sounds if you even acknowledge them they lock onto you.....I made that mistake in PA. We were polite but definitely said “not interested” and didn’t take the literature.

normally i do not even go to the door, but we are expecting someone to come by around noon and so this was a bit before noon and i thought it was the guy coming with xsteen’s new car. Next week i will be prepared and won’t answer!
I asked the "head guy" once about their beliefs and they sound good - they are basically decent people with strong values, but they also believe they are the ONLY people who are saved. And I know there are several groups who feel that way but I don't. I think God reaches people through many methods so I don't judge salvation by which church you attend, or if you even do, but I was very offended by his open pronouncement that I was just wasting my time even thinking that I was a Christian or a saved person.

When I was a kid, it was all about global cooling-TV, magazine articles, etc. It only became warming when the big freeze didn’t happen-just like warming isn’t happening, and it really is getting cooler now...

I had heard that from my cub, who has a friend who is a JW-awfully narrow view, and not one I can embrace. I also believe God reaches people any way He wants to, and it is a very personal thing-I don’t shun anyone unless they are preaching intolerance and violence as part of their religion/beliefs.
