I thought this was at Carnegie Hall, but the source says Avery Fisher.
Where ever the performance...it is timeless and magnificent.
Horowitz was 75 y/o at the time of this performance.
Absolutely magnificent!
I correct my comment about it being at Carnegie Hall. At the 17:33 mark, the stage is fully visible and it is Avery Fisher.
I told my friend that it was too difficult for me, but my friend said try practicing it for six months and see what happens. It still can't memorize it even though I'm trying to memorize other, shorter oeuvres.
What a treasure that we can sit in front of our computers and experience this amazing moment.
One of my favorite movies!
Thank you SO MUCH for posting this.
Really restores the spirit, doesn't it?
I had a lot of Dixielnd, Scott Joplin, and that type of jazz records when I was younger. No longhair music for me then.
One day I heard Rachmaninoffs C minor concerto played on the piano and I was so impressed by the music, and by the pianist, that I went out and bought it. It was played by Alexander Brailowski. To me he is the best pianist I have ever heard. -Tom
