According to ICAO rules and without any agreement to the contrary, if any part of this aircraft is recovered including black boxes they are flown immediately to Kuala Lumpur and put under Malaysian jurisdiction which is in charge of the investigation.

None of the 14 nations involved want that to happen thus I suspect they have all deferred to Australia, including the US, Britain, and China, hoping for it to atleast emerge as an equal partner with Malaysia in the investigation.

It’s possible that politics is holding up the “finding” of the aircraft and until this agreement is signed nothing will be “found”.

Agree with you UC on everything but withholding the location. No way that could be kept a secret. No way.

This agreement seems similar to that signed with Egypt re: EgyptAir990. The Aussies are perceived as friendly to Malaysia and China and they’ll likely source the Brit equivalent of the NTSB anyway, who the Malaysians are agreeable to(having dissed the NTSB early in the game).

The Moosefolk community are in the same state of mind as in 1999; They know it’s their guys but they’ll never admit it on their own.

I was reading the Mirror earlier and they report that the search area has been reduced to a 6.2 mile circle. The survey should be complete within a week.
