Mom, 44, shot dead ... by husband who was hallucinating after eating a marijuana cookie'...

A Denver, Colorado mother has been shot dead in front of her children by her 'hallucinating' while she was on a 13 minute call to 911, police said.

Kristine Kirk, 44, called for help around 9:30p.m. Monday, telling dispatchers that her husband Richard Kirk, 47, was 'talking about the end of the world' and 'scarring' their three children. A source told FOX31 investigators are looking at whether he had eaten a marijuana cookie.

Mrs Kirk said in the 911 call that there was a gun in the house but it was in a safe, according to a probable cause statement.

'She then said that her husband retrieved the gun from the safe and she began to scream,' the statement reads. A gunshot could then be heard followed by silence.

Officers arrived on the scene shortly after the shooting.

'They were almost there,' Sonny Jackson, a Denver Police Department spokesman, told The Denver Post.

I used to believe this. Now I see quite clearly that there are people who know right from wrong but simply don't care. They kill other people as you or I might kill a fly and suffer no remorse or regret whatever. They might regret being caught and punished.

I have decided that there is such a thing as "evil". Assuming that an evil person is insane is to suggest that something might cure it. I believe that some people's brains are simply mis-wired. They will always be with us.

Stoners have lost their good judgement. I did some research recently on mj. It is so far from harmless that the stoners’ arguments about it’s benignity are proof of how it damages the ability to think rationally, proper judgement and sensory perception.

In the ‘70’s I had a business partner...

Just out of curiosity, how was he as a business partner before he, uh, blew up? Was he sociopathic? charming? Distracted? Honest/self-serving? I've had some less-than-desirable, but not-hospitalized partners in the past, myself.

I smoked pot for about 2 or 3 years in the late 60s up to maybe part of 1970. It was impressive then, even. In 1970 I stopped all drugs and alcohol use cold.

Then in the early 80’s I smoked one hit, once, due to bad association. I could not believe in the increased potency. What to speak of the people in labs now cross breeding constantly to increase the THC. It’s like a powerful freight train compared to a tired old horse and buggy.

Now that so many people have been smoking it there is a lot of research into long term effects and they are not good at all. Including permanent drop in IQ, effects are worse the earlier people start the habit.

As a casual smoker, I will never "eat" pot. Did it once, and it was way more powerful and lasted way too long. (I didn't kill anyone)

9. Is marijuana addictive? If not, why did Ricky Williams quit football to go smoke?

I firmly believe Ricky, although a gifted athlete, was a couple short of a full sixpack upstairs. It would have been something, if not MJ.

It did not happen. I know because I have had too many to count the number of marijuana users telling me that marijuana use, other making them mellow out, does not effect them. Now, if the story was Mom, 44, loved to death by husband who was hallucinating after eating marijuana cookies......

Stoned mom avoids jail after driving 12 miles with baby on roof

An Arizona mother will avoid jail time after she got high and drove nearly 12 miles with her 2-month-old baby on the roof of her car.

Maricopa County Superior Judge Cynthia Bailey sentenced 21-year-old Catalina Mariah Clouser on Wednesday to 16 years of supervised probation. She will have to serve 3 months in jail only if she violates the order, a local CBS affiliate reported.

Miss Clouser pleaded guilty in February to child abuse and driving under the influence of marijuana after her infant son was found miraculously unhurt in the middle of a Phoenix highway in June 2012, still strapped into his car seat, Reuters reported.

Miss Clouser, who was 19 at the time, had driven about 12 miles with the baby on the roof after reportedly smoking pot at a friend’s house. She was arrested after realizing the baby was missing and returning to the scene.

“I just want to say, I do know that what I did was horrible,” she said during the sentencing last week

He was an utterly charming sociopath. He was stealing from the first moment and I had no idea as I was a total business and interpersonal virgin. Ten years later when the judge signed a million dollar award, he tossed it across his desk and said, “Lot’s of luck collecting.” (Florida is a debtor haven state.)

As time went on he took more and more advantage of people leaving ever-more wrecked lives, ex-wives, abandoned children, you name it. I lost track a long time ago. But had I realized such a strong reaction to such a small dose of pot was a screaming symptom, I’d have backed away early and saved myself a lot of grief.

Pot's most pernicious aspect is that the effects of intoxication ARE relatively benign. It is possible to stay intoxicated nearly 24/7 for years, while operating at around 60% capacity. Staying drunk at a similar level will result in health problems, and probable legal issues, that cannot be ignored.

All the while, however, pot is causing subtle, but significant, harm to one's mind. For someone of high intelligence and strong emotional constitution, these effects can probably be overcome. For more normal people, there will be consequences.

The guy I had in mind wasn’t pot-sensitive, and never needed a major psychiatric intervention. He was a successful psychopath, subtly taking advantage of his partners and putting them at legal risk. Good at maximizing revenues—initially charming to new clients, if sneaky and corner cutting. I’d tell you more (privately), but our settlement binds us from discussing details, if you know what I mean.

Yeah it can if you eat it.

Ingesting THC isn’t very far from dropping a hit of acid.

THC is classified as a hallucinogen.

1. If marijuana is harmless, should there be an age restriction? If so, why?

I don’t know that I’ve read anything from a serious commentator that suggests pot is harmless, so your question is silly. Like all other mood/mind altering substances, there should be an age restriction. Informed choice is a good thing, and children rarely have all the info they need to make an informed choice.

2. Should a pregnant woman smoke marijuana? If not - why?

I favor leaving that up to the woman in question, but decades ago, my wife did not smoke pot or cigs or drink. It was common sense to us.

3. Should people on welfare be drug tested for marijuana?

Frankly I don’t favor this, as we all, every one of us, take advantage of one or another government service. What’s to stop them from testing anyone at that point, and testing them for whatever they want.

4. Should driving under the influence of marijuana be allowed?

No. It should carry the same penalty as driving under the influence of alcohol.

5. If not, what is the limit...and how is it tested?

That remains to be seen, now doesn’t it?

6. If a driver/pilot/train conductor has marijuana in his system after an accident, should he be criminally charged?

Once we figure out how to determine whether or not the person is “intoxicated”, absolutely.

7. Should a CDL truck driver (who has a 0.0 BAC limit for DUI) have a similar prohibition against weed? If so, why?

Questions 4-7 seem to be asking much the same thing. Asked and answered.

8. How many hard drug users do you know, who never tried marijuana?

None. to a person, they all smoked cigs and drank booze first. But I only know (for sure, anyway) a handful of hard drug users.

9. Is marijuana addictive? If not, why did Ricky Williams quit football to go smoke?

I’d have to ask Ricky that question. You do realize that he came back to football after that, right, spending his last 2 seasons as a Baltimore Raven, and performed pretty well in a very limited role.

Sorry to not have evaded your questions as you clearly desired - so as to make your point. And my only reference to booze was that DUI should carry the same penalty for both, while acknowledging that a test to determine level of mj intoxication does not yet exist.
