What is your interpretation of:

Joel 2:31
The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.

Acts 2:20
The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.

Well, actually there are two clauses here.

1. The sun will be turned to darkness.
2. The moon will be turned to blood.

Now I’ve seen total lunar eclipses before, and it really is red, although of a copper hue (to me it looks like a penny!), but what about the sun turning to darkness? They can’t just mean nighttime because even at night it is daytime on the other half of the world.

If those words refer to solar and lunar eclipses, then both of those events have happened thousands of times since the days when those words were first written.
