It’s not considered cheating. But since card counters aren’t a “protected class” under federal law, the casinos can ban them from their premises.

Card counting is not cheating, and is not much of a threat. It is, however, disruptive to their business, which is taking money from suckers. They pay dealers to rake in money, not shuffle and switch decks.
