My problem with this is two-fold:

1) UEFA is getting themselves involved in a contract worked out by the two clubs, one that presumably had to get FIFA approval to be filed in the first place.

2) Chelsea is being made to look like the "bad guys" here for having this provision. But really, it makes sense not only that you don't want to get beat by your own player, but even more so, what if Chelsea advances due to a goalkeeping error? Does anyone really want to have any appearance of impropriety going on here given the damage match-fixing scandals have already done across Europe?

Exactly. I'm surprised this is even an issue. But then again, what do you expect from a bunch of bureaucrats (UEFA), even in sports.
