Hello. I am member of Mozilla's development team and these postings here lately force me now to react. Let me first clarify one thing. I do that because someone has finally to speak out some things... Things which should clearly brought out to the public....
First, the incident about our short time CEO Eich..... many of us do NOT agree with what has happened. There has been a massive amount of pressure inside and outside of Mozilla which brought him to resign from his post.
About the ads in the new tab page... Our reasoning for this is to make us more independent moneywise and influence wise from Google Inc. - the problem is, even with that we still are unable to break free of Google in so many ways sadly!
About Australis and the so called chrome similarity: In business you have to make some compromise to get your income, there are quite a lot dependencies which often stand in the way what you can do or not do!
BUT: I really would lie if i would now say that there would be no suggestions/recommendation/expectancies coming from the side of Google Inc towards us in terms of general feature request or UI features. Which leads to Australis. I can say, without Google Australis would be a hell of more customizable as it is as end result. Again.. many do not agree with Google's influence and would like to see the relationship between Google Inc. and Mozilla terminated!
And last but not least towards this political boycott... Eich's departure is NOT the whole sickness, it is only part of the symptoms which are plaguing Mozilla. Mozilla as it is right now is torn into half. One half often does not like what the other half is planning. This and the massive amount of Third Party organization influence since a long time is leading to things like that which are damaging in a massive way Mozilla's reputation!
In the end many of us as i said do not agree with most of the above mentioned problems, the reason nobody is complaing is because it is like in every other business... criticize the leaders and you are history!
If you really feel the need for a boycott... Do it against Australis, do it against Google's influence and the influence of the ads industry into Mozilla! Stay with Firefox 28 instead of 29 or stay with Seamonkey. Drop your Google Mail, stop use Google search, write Google a message in their groups that you dislike their direct influence in many of Mozilla's business/developement decisions! We have to get independent again!
Some adresses where you can write: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/mozilla.governance https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/firefox-dev
Or feel free to write your protest to #mozilla or #firefox over Twitter or contact people like Mitchell Baker.
Again... boycotting because of political reasons changes NOTHING - not when the sickness which plagues the construct goes much more deeper! Don't forget with enough support we can change nearly everything! Help us get healthy again, help us break free of limitations we are suffering right now!
After all we are Mozilla - Doing good is part of our code! And we still have not stopped to be the good guys!
With kind regards!
Like the Climategate e-mails....\
Switched to it tonight and wish to report I am delighted. It even had a nice application that took my Firefox preferences and adopted them. I didn't even have to manually add my favorites or add-on selections to Pale Moon. That little application it for me, running great and I think a good 20% quicker.
Thank you moonbat Mitchell Baker for forcing me to leave my comfort zone and leaving you the poorer for it.
I was messing with IceDragon.. no matter what I did, I could not get the FF settings over :/ I have just installed the Linux Version of Pale moon... copied all of my “mwad0hks.default” from FF to “kgefn5c4.default” on Pale Moon, and it now looks exactly like my FF did (Noia theme and all). It updated a couple of the add-ons.. and informed me that 1 add-on wasn’t usable, but will be waiting for it to be compatible.
I will never look back at FF (or Google) again.
Also, have all of the google add-ons I could find (totally keeping google away from my PC).
Yeah, I was observing that too.. I saw 100 posts deleted in about 2 minutes a couple of days ago. Also, the unhappy #s do NOT add up to the graph.... typical cry-baby libs.. :p
I was able to install the sourceforge PMLinux.. had to use su instead of sudo though..
Forgot to mention, you can see the actual number of unhappies if you hover over the word on the left.
Yep.
Here’s a few of the comments regarding this:
*** Your messages counter is still counting DOWN. It showed 52822. Now it shows 52657. This is the ultimate proof that you are in fact deleting comments. This is CENSORSHIP !!!!
Hey Counter Moron (moron): The time window selected is the date 1 week ago, with the time set to midnight, through tomorrow at midnight. Unless comments change their time, they shouldn’t be decreasing. Here is proof of a deleted comment: https://input.mozilla.org/en-US/dashboard/response/4284500 4284501 and 4284499 both exist though. Very interesting...
It is shameful that your counter and graph are fudging the facts. Your company is used to committing dishonest and disgraceful actions though.
And these were just in the last hour.
Lol.. I was wondering if you were the one commenting ;)
HEH! No, I commented a couple of times a few days ago.
Yeah, I commented twice too.. but figured they would be not counting the ones with the same IP. I did notice that the same moron was posting the happy comments.. usually with a letter f.. a few numbers .. or a few random letters (and they seems to count). :p
**seemed
I did, however, just put this on there:
“I’ve been watching the counter for this page for a few days since the Eich thing. I’m noticing that the counter is now going down. Yet when I hover over the, “Sad,” and, “Happy,” words on the left, it would seen that only the, “Sad,” comments are being deleted. Telling. Good thing I have many screenshots of this to share with people.”
Let’s see how fast it gets deleted...
I think part of the bigger problem is that most that are posting there have no idea that 99% of the profit (non-prof my butt) to Mozilla comes from google... Google needs to be cut off too.
That is a major part of the message that needs to be spread with the rest of it.
also.. for thee ‘day’.. it is showing over 4000 “sad”.. while, on the chart, it is still showing 100-200.. Very telling
This Pale Moon is running so much better, in so many ways, I am glad this happened ;^) (many people needed a swift kick anyway to get off of their ignorant butts)
Still watching it. Almost a thousand negative comments gone, and about seven positive comments gone.
Pathetic, but predictable.
Of course if they’re called out on it, they’ll say something like, “Removing profanity and abusive language,” reasons.
That doesn’t fly, though. There’s still a lot of positive comments with profanity there that have remained on the site.
Give them a complaint they can grasp. Mozilla Corporation Fax Number: 650-903-0875. You can fax for free using faxzero dot com. REPOST THIS MESSAGE WHEREVER YOU CAN AND AS OFTEN AS YOU CAN
"Since Thursday, several Mozilla employees have called for Eich to resign because of his view on marriage. A few took to Twitter to publicize their opinions: Im an employee of @mozilla and cannot reconcile having @BrendanEich as CEO with our orgs culture & mission. Brendan, please step down. Chris McAvoy (@chmcavoy) March 27, 2014 Like many @Mozilla staff, Im taking a stand. I do not support the Boards appointment of @BrendanEich as CEO. #Prop8 http://t.co/msKVNjuhgR Kat Braybrooke (@codekat) March 27, 2014 Have waited too long to say this. In the modern world, EVERYONE has a soapbox. For every Twitter or Facebook account with a supposed Mozilla employee feigning disdain for Eich, there are ten others silent on the issue.
I’ve NEVER been a part of this social media psychoses that’s gripping the world. I prefer my quiet little corner of America. If people want to know what I’m thinking, they’ll buy me a beer and ask me.
That said, I know conservatives who are part of the social media zeitgeist, and they spend more time posting pictures of their kids, pets, families, and chocolate cake recipes than they do opining on media red meat.
Notice “iamjessklein” started her Tweet with “Have waited too long to say this.” That tells me if avenues such as Twitter and Facebook didn’t exist, she’d sit and stew in her little cubicle because she has to. There’s a lot of crap in this world with which we have to put up. I’m not going to lose my job just to post my opinion on a site that tracks trends based on what people say in 140 characters.
I may hate my CEO’s politics. I may hate my HR department’s hiring practices. Having a job and caring for my family is paramount. Unless my company is making their money through means with which I morally or ethically disagree (i.e. theft, abortion, etc.), I’m going to sit down and shut up and be a good little worker bee.
Thanks for the list.
Now we have some idea who has been frantically deleting about 2,000 negative comments on Mozilla’s site per day.
