Thank you for posting this.
Couple of weeks ago, I saw a disheveled looking man sitting beside the on ramp, with a sign that said “I-26 S”
Had a thought “You need to help that man.” Why did that happen to me? I pass those people with signs out every day. And ignore them.
But, with the thought, came another one like -”You REALLY need to do this.” Was that God?
I wish I knew.
I took no chances. I swung back, picked him up and bought him a bus ticket out of town.
I admit to being baffled by it.
Wow! What’s with all of the complex machinations to do a charitable act? Be charitable and be on your way or not. If you cannot afford to give a bum a buck without contemplating whether you’re being scammed/ripped off/cheated then save your dollar and give it to the IRS. This is where “What difference does it make?” really counts. So the guy/gal gives you some BS story. Big deal.
Are we charitable Christian conservatives or social engineers using your money to coerce others to do your bidding? So he buys drugz/booze with your dollar? Not your responsibility. You’re serving the virtue of charity. You’ve done your part.
Look at your hands. You know what they are? The only thing that God has to work with.
