“Whoever mocks the poor shows contempt for their Maker;” Proverbs 17:5
I only mock stuipid people who are “poor” due to their own damned stuipidiity, especially when they have items that are more expensive than my own and they spend their meager money frivolously and cannot manage their own money because their priorites are all screwed up.
Haitians are poor, there are no “poor” people in the US. Just those who have less then others, but that doesn’t make them “poor.”
“I only mock stuipid people who are poor due to their own damned stuipidiity”
Don’t mock the “stupid”...
Ditto. I will bend over backwards to help the helpless but not the clueless.
I have been through the depression days/years of the 1930s. Our family of four used welfare hand outs several times. My brother, killed on Okinawa WWII and I a vet at one time only had the paltry earnings of my mother to live on when she could find work. I have seen desire for the good things in life turned into a grab fest for the indolent who seem to think/believe everybody owes them what is out in the world especially those electronic toys and tickets to movies and ballgames. I have been the receiver and a giver as to help to other persons and I do believe there are people deserving of help to get on with a no frills living but I have no feelings to give anything to the societal parasites.
A couple of months ago I had to get a nuclear stress test in Las Vegas. While I was inside, wife waited for me and reported: A couple of 30-something blacks came in for a test and started complaining they had no money when the clerk said there was a $5.00 fee for Medicare patients. Wife said they sported gold chains that looked like they came from the Atocha shipwreck and each had a pack of $5.00 ciggies in their breast pocket.
I'd have loved to have heard the clerk say they would take one link of their gold chains, or even a partial pack of ciggies as payment, but then that happens only in my fantasies.
