You know who *really* made me mad during that segment? Ralph Peters.

He doesn’t know anyone in the military who wants soldiers armed on bases?? My FB feed BLEW UP with soldiers who definitely want just that.

He kept going on about how this murderer would’ve had an automatic (gasp!) weapon instead of a handgun.

My husband and I were going over the possibilities that would make everyone comfortable. Senior NCO’s and officers could carry handguns as part of their uniform, if they went out and got their CCL training on their own dime. That seemed like a good compromise. (They have to get motorcycle training on their own dime, and in their own time, to ride a bike on post)

So, no. I haven’t heard a military man say that he wants everyone running around with automatic rifles. That would be a PITA. But handguns, yes.

Their other ‘solution’ was to put more money into mental health. O’Reilly did bring up the fact that this guy *was* being treated. It was already known that he had problems.

Oh, and BTW, we’ve had the guns confiscated of soldiers that were found to be suicidal or homicidal. As soon as there’s a known threat, that’s reported and dealt with.

We’re not going to stop crazy. Society isn’t going to stop crazy. Those people are out there and always will be. People have found creative ways to attack and kill their fellow man long before guns came along.
