woo! So glad race season is starting up again. I am kind of underwhelmed by the performance of the cars so far this season, though.

di Montezemelo and Ecclestone are supposed to meet with Todt to discuss the fuel restriction ridiculousness. Afraid nothing can be done about the sound at this point.

I don’t mind them making restrictions that will lessen the amount of fuel used. But if they’re going to do that, then there need to be other changes made that will allow the cars to simply go faster. I’m no engineer, but the idea that a racing series like F1 can’t use technology to make the lap times go down rather than up is just ridiculous.

The cars look and sounds less cool every year. Now they’re getting slower. The idea that car racing should be “green” is insane.
To: American Guesser
I agree. If they want a “Green” race they can give them bicycles.

what i don't understand is, you and everybody else has X amount of fuel, what the hell does the FIA care how fast you use it??? if you run out you run out...
even though i hate the engines, it's weird hearing tire squeal and complain again

Not to be mean but restrictions on fuel? In racing? Really? Since the heat extracted and the heat rejected in an internal combustion engine is essentially constant on a percentage basis, the way to get more power is to flow more air through the engine. An air to fuel ration of 12 or 12.5 to 1 is pretty much ideal for energy extraction (alcohol fuel air ratios are lower) so it should come as no suprise that power drops as fuel is restricted. So don’t expect speeds to rise. Except perhaps with bigger undercarriage wings.
