And we're supposed to take this seriously?

OMG, is this going to be another Zimmerman type fiasco? Did the father shoot him in the back while the daughter pinned him down?? I can see the possibility of that scenario coming, if its anything like the GZ event. next step the victims mom has to copyright his name ASAP so the T Shirts can be printed.

The girlfriend’s father must be a white african american, otherwise Quanell X would not be involved.

While they show a picture of the boy, why not a picture of the girl - does the activist Quanell X give you any hint of what the girl looks like?

When I saw “Quanell X” I assumed that the dead kid was black and the girl was white but it looks like everyone involved is black so “racism” can't be the issue. So what's Quanell X's problem? Is he speaking truth to power in support of a young home's right to get a little whatever?

The 17 year old knew he was doing something wrong, sneaking into the house. When caught he then argued with the father. He was in no position to argue, he was in a position of get the hell out, nothing more, nothing less. You don’t sneak into someone’s house and argue with them when caught at 2:30 AM.

I don’t care who he claimed invited him, he still snuck in and sought to deceive. He’s dead because he didn’t just get out, as any young man capable of shame would have done. Is the daughter guilty of something? Yes, she is. She falsely claimed she didn’t know him. Would the shooting not have occurred, had she admitted that she knew him and had actually invited him in, participating in the deception? We’ll never know.

What we do know is, the father found an unknown male in his own house in the middle of the night, the apparent intruder claimed his daughter invited him, she denied it, unknown male proceeds to argue with the father, then appeared to be reaching for a weapon. Father shot him dead. No racial angle, father is black.

If there’s any culpability here outside of the deceased, it actually is the daughter, not the father. So, they’re right to an extent, much as it dismays me to end up on the same side of a community organizer named Quanell X.

Although the young man was invited by the girl, the fact that he was hiding indicates that he knew the father didn’t want him there. So,while there is plenty of blame to go around, it all goes back to the young man’s actions.

This seems like a move in the right direction. Women are constantly crying “rape” and getting away with it. It’s not good for the real victims of this horrific crime.

Sometimes there are consequences for actions.

The boy suffered those consequences.

The tramp daughter hopefully will be remorsefull for a long long time. That should be punishment enough

Legally, this is an interesting one, in that Texas law can be odd in this type of circumstance.

For example, it at least used to be the case that if a spouse returned home to find their spouse in bed with another person, if they shot and killed both of them, they could plead temporary insanity. But if they just shot one or the other, it was murder, as they were sane enough to pick just one.

In this case, there are several important facts.

First of all, the father aimed at the boy’s head. This pretty much discards any suggestion that he might have just wounded the boy. It also means that the idea that the boy *might* be armed carries less weight, in that the father “had the drop on him.”

This also leans in the direction of the father executing him out of rage.

As far as the daughter goes, I think she is pretty safe from prosecution, because she was under a high stress situation.

If I were a member of that teen aged boy's family, I would think/feel the same.

The teen aged girl lied, and while there is some indication the boy was arguing with the father, we don't know what he said to the man, or exactly when the father called 911 during the incident, as this article implied.

What an easily avoidable, horrible mess resulting in a death!
I don't envy the grand jury, and I agree that absent any proof to the contrary, that it looks now like the only way the boy's family will secure any measure of “justice” will be had via a civil case.

Such a nightmarish situation for all involved!

1) His parents had no idea what he was doing and where he was.
2) He made the decision to go over to gf’s at 2 in the morning knowing full well it was wrong.
3) One of them sweet talked the other into a midnight get together.
4) He crawled through the window like a sneak thief.
5) He hid.
6) She set him up as an intruder.
7) He went off on dad instead of being a man and saying, “sorry, sir”.
8) He made a move to possibly pull a gun on dad.

The blame falls on both the lovebirds, not the dad, but the guy put himself in that bedroom.

But her son pulled his “gun” first. You should never be creeping around in someones house after dark, the fact that a minor invited you in and you accepted gets you the stupid and dumb award.
