Win8 has known problems with blurry fonts...
Have you already tried tuning Clear Type?
2)It's a flat screen monitor.
I will reiterate the importance of monitor drivers where flat screens are concerned. Be sure.

‘Nother thing:
Use the recommended screen resolution and refresh rate - if that makes things too small to see (for you) then adjust system wide font using the ‘display’ options. I use the ‘medium’ setting in Win 7

I just did a search for "clear type." I don't have it.
The thing is, with my old computer, I didn't need it. I don't understand why this one is so different.
