For example, you cannot wander around on a civil war battlefield and dig stuff up.

Not saying he did any of that....but that is the type of thing they mean. I am willing to be the has Native American stuff from reservations. That is a big no no.

Could be stuff he collected at garage sales that was at one time dug up from reservations....

Maybe he had a Indian friend he bought it from not knowing it was from there....

If I have a friend from the rez and they give me some old artifact am I breaking the law or are they?

I thought ex post facto laws were a big no no also. How long has it been “illegal” to posess these things? Taking it off the rez or a battle field is wrong but who knows how he came by this stuff.

Yes, but ONLY 100 Fibbies for a 91-year-old guy?

Perhaps they could have mobilised the 101st Airborne, several SEAL teams, and a couple of brigades from an armored division.

Oh, and the entire Indiana National Guard.

If displaying Indian bric-à-brac is this big of a deal then the laws need to be rewritten. Too much deference is given to the Indians in law already.
