Woman, 85, 'mauled to death by two large pitbulls inside her home after they broke down the door to the bedroom they were locked in'
Horrible. RIP.
When are people ever going to learn, fighting breeds are no good as pets. These dogs don’t play by the canine rules that other dogs are governed by.
What a nasty way to go, eaten alive by wild animals.
I think — that owners of these dogs are going to have to be held to a higher standard and face punishment if their dogs attack and maim or kill.
Legislation needs to happen. If those folks who think they’re the best owners around want to take the risk, fine, but they have to face the consequences when they’re wrong.
I once had an exceptionally ah..breathtaking encounter with a pit bull....
I was looking through the veiefinder of my camera...felt a tug on my pant leg...looked down...very carefully..and noted the presence of “leashless” pit bull .
the nearby owner was quick to assure me...that hes widdo puppy was harmless...
No APOLOGY...however
Headline reads like SUV-hysteria/Climate-change-hysteria et al.
I’ll agree with the pitbull-hysteria on one condition:
For every pit bull eliminated we eliminate 1000 stupid humans. Sound extreme?
Nah: It wouldn’t even make a dent in STUPID ‘accidents’ ‘cause the rate would have to be an order of magnitude larger...
Does FR have a ‘Darwinism’ ping list?
This certainly qualifies...
Send these dogs to the White Hut...immediately...
I can hear her son now. But they were nice little harmless puppies who never hurt anyone. I bet with all the publicity that is out there about this killer breed that he really wants others to believe that he had no idea that they could or would kill someone.
Charge him with second degree murder or at least negligent homicide and send his butt to prison. He should be held responsible for this just as if he had killed her himself. He knew these dogs can and do kill just like all the other owners of these dogs should know.
Yet another mere coincidence
It doesn’t seem like keeping pit bulls in confined spaces for a long time is such a good idea. Other stories posted about previous incidents had these dogs living in apartments or cooped up inside for most of the day. I bet that’s 80 percent of the problem.
There was a similar thread a few days ago — one pit lover said he thought the mother of the dead 4-year old girl might have been menstruating.
Can’t use that excuse this time.
The owner of the dogs is guilty of animal abuse and manslaughter. Keeping two large dogs that require lots of training and exercise were neglected by being locked in a bedroom. The idiot son must have known the dogs were going nuts because any animal will respond aggressively when they are abused and neglected like that. It is VERY rare an animal just up and turns like that. Even the neighbors say the dogs were aggressive. Son is guilty of the death of his mother.
Notice the large pendulous teats on those dogs.
Seems this fool was breeding these monsters. From that coupled with “keeping with mom” I’d investigate for dog fighting.
Shame.
Didn’t finish reading - fool man had MORE outside. Presuming they too were PBT types, definitely look at this fool for dog fighting.

32 U.S. dog bite-related fatalities occurred in 2013. Despite being regulated in Military Housing areas and over 700 U.S. cities, pit bulls contributed to 78% (25) of these deaths. Pit bulls make up about 6% of the total U.S. dog population.2
Together, pit bulls (25) and rottweilers (1), the second most lethal dog breed, accounted for 81% of the total recorded deaths in 2013. This same combination accounted for 74% of all fatal attacks during the 9-year period of 2005 to 2013.
The breakdown between these two breeds is substantial over this 9-year period. From 2005 to 2013, pit bulls killed 176 Americans, about one citizen every 18.6 days, versus rottweilers, which killed 33, about one citizen every 99.5 days.
In the year of 2013, the combination of pit bulls (25), rottweilers (1) and bullmastiffs (2) accounted for 88% of all dog bite-related fatalities. Notably, the two bullmastiff-mixes3 were littermates that inflicted death within a 6-month period.
