Washington (AFP) - Social media erupted in outrage and counter-attacks Friday after US comedian Stephen Colbert used language that mocked Asian Americans in what was intended as an anti-racist jibe.
Colbert, who is liberal but parodies a blustery conservative on his late night talk show, took aim at the Washington Redskins football team whose name is considered offensive by many Native Americans.
Colbert mocked team owner Dan Snyder who has announced a fund to support Native Americans while rejecting calls to change the name.

One of the best movies ever.
Only Mel Brooks could get away with Springtime for Hitler.
“I like Chinese, I like Chinese, they only come up to your knees but they’re wise and they’re witty and they’re ready to please, I like Chinese food; the waiters never are rude...
I like Chinese, I like Chinese, their food is guaranteed to please. A 14, a 7, a 9 and light cheese.”—Monty Python
An inability to face reality. An assumption that right and wrong are relative concepts. It’s a learning disability, a product of seeing yourself as the center of the universe.
The hilarity of this is that there is only *one* ethnic group that is truly hypersensitive about racial humor, but liberals like to pretend that it is all groups.
This is especially true about “Asians”, a word that means almost nothing, as well as “Hispanics”, another word that means almost nothing. Even “Native Americans” are so diverse that lumping them together for almost anything makes little sense.
“black left wing liberals, conyers, the islands going to tip over, lee, 400 years of the constitution”
Not Conyers but dem rep Hank Johnson.
“Well, Washington Redskins is an offensive name. Dan Snyder really does need to change it.”
I find the “Washington” part offensive.

The problem here is offended folks.
An offended person is a weak person.
“How about the DC Rednecks? Just as silly.”
How about the San Antonio Bandits?
Move the freaking team and then Washington to piss off.
For years, Asians have just silently "taken it" as they are negatively stereotyped, denied admissions to prestigious universities, and publicly ridiculed.
Perhaps it is time a few more of them spoke up.
Asians don't want "special" treatment, they just want a little r-e-s-p-e-c-t. Is that too much to ask, or to give?
"Fantastic. THE BEST racism parody (common stereotypes & etc.) movie ever for conservatives. Mel Brooks is a gift to to the world."
"One of the best movies ever."
Ever!
Aren’t the letters “DC” even more offensive?
Here’s my twofer:
“Stoopit Wascist”....
Asian legislator sells guns to drug dealers. Immediate arrest!
Attorney General Eric Holder sells guns to drug dealers in Mexico using all the government resources at his disposal; he thumbs his nose at law-abiding citizens, keeps his position and continues put Americans in danger with his hypocritical words and actions.
LOL
Well thank you Martin Luther Hong.
Why not? Bald white guys have just as much right to speak out about racial stereotypes as anyone else.
Perhaps they should. That might level the playing field and expose the Left as the hypocrites they really are.
Why should one (or two) racial groups be treated as a "protected class" in a country that professes to see all people as equals?
Gran Torino was a good example of how “racist” terms weren’t necessarily a show of disrespect. Walt spoke to his friends the same way I talk to my cousin’s husband (The wop in the woodpile).

Asians have no right to racial grievances in the US. Everyone needs to grow up and get a life.
