The article addresses an “apocalyptic” event of catastrophic proportions. I didn’t use the word “apocalyptic” - Gingrich and the article did. “Apocalypse” and the proportions of casualties contemplated implies end-time Armageddon/tribulation stuff. Certainly a relevant topic here.

Neither the author of the article or Newt Gingrich mentions the Bible, God, the Great Tribulation or the Book of Revelation, or other prophetic books of the Bible. Therefore of the various meanings of the word - apocalypse - “a great disaster” aptly applies (according to Webster’s dictionary).

You’re trying to “shoe horn” in the Bible, the Great Tribulation, the Book of Revelation and other prophetic books — into an article that has no intention of doing that.

If you think that the author Alex Brown does indeed refer to what you’re saying - then write to him and get that confirmation from him that this is his intention - because it’s NOWWHERE to be seen in the article.
