I think we can all agree that the guy was driving alongside of the woman, and he was in control enough of his vehicle at that time to flip her off. With a clear lane in front of him. So at that point, there was no accident. They were simply driving next to one another.
He decides, all on his own, to “teach her a lesson” (or express his feelings in some way) by quickly accelerating and swerving in front of her, which unfortunatly for him, was a maneuver the road conditions did not favor. He lost control of his vehicle by virtue of a maneuver that ultimately led to the wreck. It was his foot on the gas and his hand on the wheel.
That he was unable to control his own anger, leading to his ill considered action, is completely on him. 100%. That was the cause of the accident ... his lack of control.
I don’t find the ‘that person made me mad so I did something really stupid” argument as supporting the idea that the other person caused it.
