With 8-year-old Relisha Rudd missing almost a month now, police issued new photos Monday of Relisha and the man suspected of abducting her, 51-year-old janitor Kahlil Tatum.

photos and updates here:
Tatum, 51, worked as a janitor at the shelter and knew Relisha and her family, authorities say.
Tatum has been charged with murdering his wife, Andrea Denise Tatum, in a Prince Georges County hotel last week.
The FBI and Prince Georges County Police are each offering rewards of $25,000 in connection to the murder and the girls disappearance.
On Tuesday, authorities released surveillance footage of Tatum and Relisha taken on Feb. 26 at the Holiday Inn Express located at 1917 Bladensburg Road in Northeast D.C.
“Shamika Young, Relishas mother, provided officials at Payne Elementary School the name and phone number of a doctor who accounted for the girls absences, according to Otero. Calls to the doctor, believed to have been Tatum, prevented officials from becoming immediately suspicious.”
So the mother is in on the girls disappearance? Sick
Some kids just don’t get a chance. I’m willing to bet that the mother was on welfare though.
Probably sold her for crack!
Mother and daughter were living in a hospital that had been converted to a shelter, according to the news report.
Praying for little Relisha. May God protect her.
It is horrifying how this young child’s family let Tatum into her life. In this instance, the teachers were the only people who behaved responsibly.
Local DC station is giving this case a lot of attention - as it should. At one time she was thought to be in Virginia.
Remember the national attention give to Maddie McCann’s disappearance (?)- and she was not even in the US.
***Im willing to bet that the mother was on welfare though.***
Probably, the DC General Hospital had been converted to a homeless shelter - where she lived with her boyfriend, 3-4 other children and maybe her mother. All the adults seem complicit in this tragedy.
I know about McCann, yes. I know at one point, her parents were considered suspects and are suing the investigators who “harrassed” them. I hate when this happens to a little kid especially.
The McCanns left their child unattended (negligent) and were questioned as the last people to see their daughter.
The Rudd parent(s) and other family members are being given a pass - because the suspected murderer was the last known person to have custody of Relisha. The family should be considered as aiding and abetting an abduction.
Tatum could be anywhere in the US - he’s wanted for the murder of his wife. Probably stole her car for a getaway.
Yes, all true. We can only pray that Relisha is found safe.
Tatum has a gun - so if he’s cornered he might try ‘suicide by cop’ or use Relisha as a hostage - and I will not list the worst case scenario.
Keep praying.
Kind regards,
Sod
The police in North Carolina, South Carolina, and New York also said that they never activated an AMBER Alert for Relisha, either.
Maryland and Virginia police went even further and said they reached out to Washington police and volunteered their help, but they never were asked to activate their AMBER Alert. This is particularly alarming as Tatum is suspected of killing his wife in a Maryland motel last week and he has a criminal record in Virginia.
Unreal. Maybe they want to keep things “quiet” for fear of causing her death? I can’t understand not issuing an Amber for her.
Just watched a press conference with the DC chief of police. Apparently, the last confirmed date that Relisha was seen alive was March 1st. Tatum was seen soon after that date buying commercial grade trash bags and also noted to be in a DC park area. (He is charged with shooting his wife on March 21st).
Local and area law enforcement have been searching the park: the chief intimated they fear Relisha may be dead.
Strange how this horrific crime spree is not making the National news.
Awful. When did her family report her missing, if ever?
