So, never buy a “2nd hand couch” from a consignment shop if it has the faint odor of tobacco smoke? I’ll probably be sued by my former work buddies because my clothes smelled like cig smoke now? Goin’ in to hiding.

Smoke odor isn’t hard to get rid of. Ozone treatment does a dandy job, especially on textiles, upholstery, etc. as compared with walls and other hard surfaces.

It should be noted that ozone needs to be handled properly, preferably by professionals.

Also ozone gets rid of the odor. There’s no guarantee I’m aware of that it neutralizes all the supposedly toxic chemicals in smoke residue.
