Now would be a good time to start the recordings of these images for that time-lapse movie in the far future.

Don't know about the FTL thing, my little mind thinks time and distance are wrapped tight around each other (one can't exist without the other).
If you go back in time, you would have to go back in distance or a negative distance.
Dang hard to plot a negative distance :)
