I worked with the Tenn Natl’ Guard during the Fireman Riots in Memphis the summer of 1978. The MUY’s were armed and loaded and we were not. I never felt so helpless riding in a military jeep as I did that weekend. I had an M-16 but we were not issued ammo. I heard Firemen and Guardsmen on the other side of Memphis dodged gunshots. I don't intend to be put into that position ever again.

Thanks for serving, and just damn. Whoever made that decision is morally bankrupt, to put young men in that situation.
