A Yemeni man returning to his village through a jungle late at night phoned his wife to tell her that he was being devoured by a hyena.
The man, in his 50s, was walking back home through a forest in the western Yemeni province of Rima when he was intercepted by a hyena.
He phoned his wife and told her the predator was attacking him and could eat him, newspapers said, adding that his wife quickly sent their sons to search for him.
When the sons reached him, it was too late. They only found the head and feet of their father, the papers said, quoting a police spokesman.
Especially in Oakland, Detroit, and Camden!
!
Hang up the phone and pick up a stick, what a weirdo.
THAT is why I NEED 30 rounds!!!
“I would never go into the woods without a weapon...and I live in GA/USA”
You got that right. We worry about coyotes and bears. Hyenas is a whole nother level of anxiety. :-)
Cool video ... and it goes to show you that people know about “marketing” in any country ... :-) ...
You know I love your tag line...pure poetry!;-)
I guess, then, that I should cancel my hiking tour of Yemeni?
Around 25 years ago, I read a book about the KGB. One thing which stuck in my mind is they considered North Yemen as the worst assignment possible.
Even the Russians considered it a crappy place to be.
And when it comes to Hyenas pretty appropriate. :-)
Shoot. We have bobcats and coyotes out here, rattlers and copperheads - maybe more stuff here on the river.
It depends on what city. I can tell you about Portland, Oregon - that’s a great transportation system. You can’t beat it. And there, the whole family gets on and it’s good. They’ve got real good coverage of the city.
On the other hand, the “coverage” in Tulsa, Oklahoma is pretty bad. But if you’re going where they’ve got coverage, I guess it’s okay. However, they only run six days a week, which is pretty bad.
In Dallas it seems to be good,. The coverage is better than Tulsa, but not as good as Portland.
I was in LA one time - got off the Amtrak about 11:30 PM and took the subway (I don’t know what else to call it) over to Hollywood, where I spent a few days before getting on the Amtrak again and continuing.
But, back to the transportation systems - it’s really nice to be able to take your bike to a particular destination, and then ride around. That worked real well in Portland. In Tulsa, it’s almost essential to have a bike with the transportation system, in order to get wider coverage.
So, depending on what city you’re talking about, it can go, rom good to bad.
A similar case occurred in Russia where a girl spoke to her mother three different times while a brown bear ate her, bite by bite. Her mother tried to get help on scene in time, but failed.
Be thankful we are Americans and can be armed, for when gunpowder speaks, beasts obey.
His name is Bob!
Never bring a cell phone to a hyena fight.
The guy obviously missed a chance for an epic selfie
There are cell towers in the jungle? “Can you hear me now?”
I’ve spent a few years on the Arabian Peninsula, but I never visited Yemen.
I can’t imagine Yemen’s topography being all that much different from Saudi. I don’t think there are any area in Saudi Arabia that could pass for a jungle. I didn’t think that were any hyenas on the peninsula.
