Guess we can't call it the Duke Invitational anymore ...
With a good tournament Parker would be gone for sure. Now I think he may stay another year.
wasn’t too hard to figure that this year’s edition of duke wasn’t going too far in the tourney.
duke had no leaders on the floor and no real identity as a team this year.
combine that with poor defense and no real inside game and it was easy to see that duke was ripe for an upset.
it was almost the exact same situation as a couple years ago when duke lost to lehigh 75-70
duke needs to start recruiting players again that they can keep for 3-4 years and develop championship teams.
I am an NCAA referee (2 different sports other than basketball one of which has a lot of attention). Speaking for the entire core of officiating professionals I can promise you no coach gets a favorable whistle no matter how much they chew on us. We have no stake in the game except to keep it fair and someone running their mouth is hardly a threat to that impartiality. The men and women who wear the stripes do not bend to that pressure. By the time we are at this level I assure you we have heard it all.
I despise Duke.
If you ever run into King Karl Hess or “TV Teddy” Ted Valentine, please tell them I said it’s time to retire. ;)
The women's ball is smaller...
And this is just a technical point...we are not referees we are officials. The referee is one of the positions on the officiating crew, usually the official with the final officiating say in that particular game but not always. Basketball has a referee and two umpires as part of the free if I am not mistaken. Football as a referee, umpire, head linesman, line judge, field judge, side judge and back judge. All are officials.
I don’t like the oad either. It’s hurting the game big time. The blue bloods may figure this out if they get bounced early and the mids advance.
I think that’s one reason Florida is in contention, they have four seniors.....they probably are just a notch below being good enough for the NBA, so it wouldn’t pay for them to leave early....That’s the key, recruiting players that are just below NBA quality so they stay for all four years and gain experience playing together.
UK and other schools get the blue-chippers, but they never have the time to gel.
I know the reputation - among the low information dweebs on ESPN.com comment boards, and among freepers who wouldn’t know a free throw from an alley oop - and it’s statistically been disproven time and again and remains only among the greivously jealous.
I also know it was your idiotic comments that took away from Mercer’s performance. U B waaaay over yo head here.
and yet, I bet you can’t put four words together explaining why .
These upsets are very unusual. If there is still a perfect bracket out out there it is probably being held by someone with the handle of:
Lefty, Luca, Bugsy, you get the idea...
Human nature would indicate that your post sounds nice, but is not true.
Kansas is getting thumped.
Check that, they were getting thumped.
I think almost every year, a #12 beats a #5.
Again....one ticked pukie. Now run along and go clean your mammas basement.
Goddamn wife !!! Didn't let the dog out. I left the TV room for a minute, came back, and the dog had pee'd on my bracket [which was on the floor].
Couldn't get mad at him - my bracket has been pee'd on since yeserday ...
It’s ignorance that ticks me off .nothing more.
