Take a break from all the depressing news of the day.
Watch Phoebe Allen, the adorable little hummingbird, lay her eggs and raise her babies HERE
Absolutely cute overload.
Phoebe is a Channel Island Allen hummingbird who lives in Orange County, California. She has been hatching 4 to 5 eggs per year and her nest has been on net webcam since 2007.
She is currently sitting on two eggs.

They are interesting. Didn’t realize there was such a thing. :)
Growing up in Nebrasks we would have these tiny bird show up after rains in pastures that would run and you could catch them if you quick enough and I think they caught bugs and such, remeber when I was a wee child I would run in the pastures with my brother and catch the birds and pet them and let them go.
I think they were “Killdeer” or some name like that, they made a distinctive noise.
They were tiny birds that could run really fast but barely flew...
.
The people on the ‘Phoebe’ board were talking about another bird coming in and stealing Phoebe’s ‘fluff’ from her nest.
LOl- and about Phoebe getting some of it back.
Isn’t nature something?
.
I always loved the mud swallows
Not familiar with your mud swallows, here we have barn swallows. I had birdhouse hanging in my front pin oak tree a couple years ago and one day whilw walking under it I heard a scratching noise coming from it.
We called them mud swallows, but it hink they were just barn swallows..
Awfully windy there in Orange Co, Ca.
Phoebe’s nest is really bouncing around.
She’s liable to get seasick. LOL
Likely the kildeer which you could catch before they were able to fly..........
Here’s a whole slew of Phoebe videos from years past, including Phoebe feeding chicks, fighting off another lizard, crow stealing her eggs, etc.

We have the western bluebirds in huge numbers here, and in the spring you can see hundreds on fences by the road.
Still doing research!
This is from a couple years ago in my backyard. Something freaky, google hummingbirds and praying mantis. They kill hummers!! Killed one of mine a couple years ago and couldn’t believe it. When they get this thick, I’ll have several mantis hanging around the feeders.

Interesting, fortunately mantis don’t live at my altitude and place.
Thanks to each and all for your input and comments.
Like to be on my ping list?
Very low volume.
Posts about interesting animals, Texas history.
Wow, the babies are almost recognizable today. Grown quite a bit from the first day.
Yes, they’re growing like little weeds..won’t be too long until they’ll be trying to fly..hopping about the nest etc. :)
If you haven’t seen, Phoebe didn’t come back last night, babies have been taken to a rehabber.
Another hummer to watch, Eva at Bella’s camera.
