We have no idea how Not Planting The San Joaquin Valley this year is going to impact the food/supply/prices.
Canned tuna , sushi , and other sea foods.
I have read on other forums that background radiation has picked up along the California coastline.
Too soon to tell with any authority...
Ground beef has been more expensive than that for quite some time around here. Once in a while they have a special 10 lbs. for 2.98, and I buy some.
Turkey and chicken is still about a buck per lb. So that’s what I get the most of. Put ground dark meat turkey in with a little beef bouillion, and its pretty good for casseroles and tacos.
We also get quite a few specials on pork roasts at a buck per lb.
I have canned a bunch of chicken and pork. Thinking about canning some Turkey too.
Sometimes we get a beef arm roast on sale for 3 bucks per lb. I grind some of it for hamburger and cook the rest in the crockpot.
We are eating more beans and rice these days. Course we like beans a lot anyway.
We can live without ground beef. I have great recipes for meatless meatballs; beefless meatloaf, etc.
An imaginative cook can boycott beef and still eat well.
I’d much rather be eating beef.
I'm not sure where you get your numbers, but corn in the Midwest was about $8.50 per bushel a year ago, now it is about $4.50
