It was for me too unil 2008 because my father and his father were as well (no need for the donkey joke comments). I have voted Republican since. It had nothing to to with race; it had everything to do with what I sensed about the man and his ideologies after Ai read up on him. Even with the MSM being compliit in hiding his background, Islamic faith, and ideologies at the beginning I still sensed there was something “not quite right” anout the man and it turns out my instincts were right.
