How old are you and what part of the south are you from? My mother is from SC and it was considered good luck to rub a little black boys head for luck. Lets not sugarcoat the past.
As a Northerne, neither have I. But, going forward, I intend to be very careful how I demonstrate affection to these little children at my church. I had no idea of this sensitive issue.
