“Publically embarrassing and humiliating his wife is the right thing to do?”

I have to agree with verga on this. You know that woman feels as low as dirt right now. Plus I know what people in that church are saying. “Who’s the ‘other woman’” and “which woman in the church was it?”. I can see them now gathering around talking about it! One protestant pastor that I’m friends with has a word for it, he calls it a “Holy Huddle”. Now you know that wife did not need this.

Some one brought up Clinton and that is the way it should have been. Bill told Hillary at home and Hillary threw a lamp at him. That is the way it should be no need for all of us to know and for gossip to start.

I know of a pastor who was removed from the pulpit for infidelity but everyone who knew was told to keep it quiet. But something like that is hard to keep quiet.

When a pastor is suddenly removed, it’s pretty obvious.

There is far less opportunity for gossip when a brief explanation is given than having someone just *disappear*.

Also, since he confessed to his wife, I’d bet that they discussed his public confession before he did it. If she hadn’t wanted him to do it, or felt it was unnecessary, she could have told him *No*.

There’s no indication in the article of whether his wife knew about this or not, but I’d say she knew it was coming and didn’t stop him.

God tells us to be sure that our sin will find us out. We can’t hide it and better our admitting it than someone else exposing it for us.

I suppose that is possible but that should not be a reason for not doing what is right.

Also, if he was exposed, the same thing would have happened. It just can't be stopped.

The circles I run in, nobody would be gossiping trying to figure out who it was. Mostly the attitude is that it's nobody's business and it's irrelevant to know who was involved.
