The idea is to repudiate and forsake the sinning. The applause is for stopping it. It’s a Christian thang. Of course the revenge-wanting world is not okay with it.

Have you never heard of confession or asking for forgiveness? He only had to get right with the Lord. He decided to get right with his congregation as well.
